Al Rakah is where the Eastern Province's future is being built. This rapidly developing area on Al Khobar's southern edge is filling with modern villas, gated communities, and family-oriented compounds designed for the post-Vision 2030 Saudi Arabia. The developments are newer, the streets wider, and the planning more intentional than the older parts of the metro area.
Al Rakah's proximity to Half Moon Bay — the Eastern Province's premier beach destination — is its standout recreational feature. The shallow, warm waters and sandy beaches are ideal for families, and several resort-style beach clubs have opened in recent years. Camping on the beach is popular during winter weekends.
Al Rakah is connected to the rest of the metro area by the coastal highway running south from Al Khobar. The drive to central Al Khobar takes about 10 minutes, and Dhahran and Dammam are 15-20 minutes away. The road infrastructure is new and well-maintained, with multi-lane highways and modern interchanges.
Daily routines in Al Rakah are shaped by the newness of the area. Shopping is centered on a handful of newly built commercial centers with supermarkets (Tamimi, Lulu), cafes, and service businesses. The dining scene is growing but still thin — chains and delivery apps fill the gaps while the area matures.
Al Rakah's coastal position brings Gulf breezes that moderate temperatures slightly compared to inland areas, but also deliver the region's notorious summer humidity. The combination of 40-45C heat and Gulf moisture from June through September makes outdoor time limited to early mornings and evenings.
