Damp and chilly at 2-10C. West Lake in winter mist has an ethereal beauty, but the cold humidity penetrates indoors without central heating. The lakeside can be especially raw on windy days. Snow is rare but transforms the lake scenery into a classic Chinese painting when it falls.
