Repulse Bay is among Hong Kong's most expensive neighborhoods, with housing costs driven by sea views, low density, and the prestige address. There is essentially no budget option — even the 'Comfortable' tier here is premium by most standards. All figures in USD.

Repulse Bay is one of Hong Kong's most exclusive residential areas, home to ultra-high-net-worth local families and senior expatriate executives. The typical expat household is a corporate relocatee — often from the finance or legal sectors — on a generous housing package. The HKIS campus draws a significant American and internationally mobile community. Domestic helpers form a visible part of the population, with most households employing live-in staff.
Repulse Bay Beach is the centerpiece — a wide, well-maintained stretch of golden sand with lifeguard service, BBQ pits, changing facilities, and a children's playground at the southern end. It is one of Hong Kong's most popular and family-friendly beaches, with shark nets installed for safe swimming. The Kwun Yam Shrine at the far end of the beach features colourful statues and is a popular photo spot. Middle Bay Beach and South Bay Beach are within walking distance for quieter alternatives.
Repulse Bay is served by buses along Repulse Bay Road, with routes 6, 6A, 6X, 66, and 260 connecting to Central and Admiralty (roughly 25-35 minutes depending on traffic). Route 73 connects to Stanley. There is no MTR access — bus and taxi are the primary transport modes. During peak summer weekends, traffic congestion on Repulse Bay Road can add significant time to journeys.
The Repulse Bay shopping arcade is small but includes a well-stocked Market Place by Jasons supermarket, a few restaurants, and some boutique retail. For a wider selection, families drive to Stanley Market and Stanley Plaza (15 minutes) or to Pacific Place in Admiralty (25 minutes). Online grocery delivery from HKTVmall, ParknShop, and Wellcome is heavily used. The limited local retail means Repulse Bay feels more residential than self-contained.
Repulse Bay's south-facing coastal position makes summers hot (30-32C) but tempered by consistent onshore sea breezes that provide genuine relief compared to enclosed urban areas. The beach is usable from April through October, with water temperatures reaching a comfortable 28-29C in peak summer. Afternoon thunderstorms are frequent but usually pass quickly. Typhoon swells can make the beach dramatic but unsafe — red flag warnings close swimming areas.
