Parque das Nacoes is Lisbon most modern neighborhood, built on the former site of the 1998 World Exposition on the Tejo riverfront. It has a distinctly international and contemporary feel — wide promenades, modern architecture, and a young cosmopolitan population. The neighborhood is popular with young professionals, tech workers, and expat families attracted by new construction and excellent infrastructure.
The entire waterfront of Parque das Nacoes is a public park and promenade — several kilometers of riverside walking and cycling paths, gardens, sculptures, and event spaces. The Lisbon Oceanarium (one of Europe finest) is a major draw. Paddleboarding, kayaking, and sailing on the Tejo are popular.
Parque das Nacoes has exceptional transport: the Oriente station is a major hub with Metro (Red Line), high-speed rail, regional trains, and buses all converging here. Lisbon Airport is 10 minutes by Metro. The neighborhood is also cycleable internally with dedicated paths.
Parque das Nacoes has all the amenities of a self-contained modern district: a large shopping mall (Vasco da Gama), supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and services. The riverfront restaurant strip is excellent for dining. Several international schools are within reach via metro or car.
Parque das Nacoes sits on the Tejo estuary and gets consistent river breezes that keep summer temperatures slightly lower than central Lisbon (26-31 degrees C vs. 30-35 degrees C inland). Winters are mild at 11-14 degrees C. The open waterfront means it can be windy in winter.
