Pulau Tikus is Penang's established residential suburb just west of George Town. It is the traditional home of the Eurasian and Peranakan communities, with a wealthy Chinese-Penang character. The neighborhood has tree-lined streets, pre-war bungalows, temples, and a famous wet market. This is where Penang's old money lives -- families who have been here for generations, alongside professionals and a small but settled Western expat community.
Youth Park (Taman Perbandaran) nearby with walking trails and recreational facilities. The Penang Botanic Gardens a short drive away. Street-level green spaces along the tree-lined residential roads.
Car or motorbike common. George Town heritage zone 10 minutes. Good connections to the rest of the island via Jalan Burma and Jalan Kelawai.
The Pulau Tikus wet market is one of Penang's best -- fresh seafood, produce, and hawker food. Cold Storage supermarket at Gurney Plaza nearby. Specialty shops along Burmah Road.
