Neihu is Taipeis tech district — a sprawling, modern eastern suburb that has become the headquarters zone for Taiwans technology industry. Giants like Acer, Asus, and dozens of semiconductor and tech companies are based here, giving the area a professional, results-oriented energy. Despite the corporate character, Neihu has developed a pleasant residential scene with the Neihu Technology Park integrated with residential neighborhoods, sports facilities, and the large Dahu Park wetland. The expat community is smaller but steady, with many tech industry professionals and their families settling here for proximity to employers and competitive housing costs relative to central Taipei.
Neihu has excellent recreational facilities. Dahu Park is a scenic wetland park with a large lake for paddleboating, cycling paths, and picnicking — one of Taipeis most beautiful district parks. The Bishan hiking trail from Neihu provides panoramic views of the Taipei basin. The Neihu Sports Center is one of Taipeis best public sports facilities with swimming, climbing, and fitness. The neighboring Nangang mountains provide additional hiking. Mountain biking on the trails above Neihu is popular with the tech community.
Neihu is served by MRT Line 6 (Wenhu Line) — the elevated brown line — which runs the length of the technology park with multiple stations. However, the lines smaller capacity means it can be crowded during rush hour. Buses supplement the MRT. A car or scooter is useful for reaching the hillside residential areas. The highway connection via National Freeway 1 makes Neihus commute to Songshan Airport fast (15 minutes). Taipei main station is 20–25 minutes by MRT.
Daily life in Neihu is comfortable and tech-centric. SOGO and the Big City Mall provide comprehensive retail. The Costco in Neihu is a popular destination for expats and locals alike — one of the few in Taiwan. Multiple restaurant zones including the Neihu night market area and the technology parks lunch spots cater to the professional population. Healthcare at Tri-Service General Hospital and Mackay Memorial Hospital is accessible. The expat community is smaller but functional, with English-speaking services well-represented in the tech sector.
Neihu shares Taipeis subtropical climate but its basin position surrounded by hills means it can trap heat in summer and cold air in winter. Temperatures are similar to downtown Taipei (32–36°C in summer, 8–15°C in winter) with the Northeast monsoon bringing grey skies and drizzle from October to March. The hillside areas of Neihu experience slightly more rainfall from orographic lift.
