Expats with valid residence permits can open accounts at Millennium BIM, Standard Bank Mozambique, or BCI. Requirements include a valid passport, DIRE or residence permit, and proof of income. USD accounts are widely available given the metical's instability.
Mozambique offers investment incentives through the Investment Promotion Centre (CPI) for qualifying projects in tourism, agriculture, energy, and manufacturing. Tax holidays and customs duty exemptions apply for large investments. There is no formal residency by investment program, but substantial investors may receive residency facilitation.
