Yes. Prospective students complete admissions evaluations prior to the offer of a place.
入学評価の簡単な説明
Students applying for the Lower Phase (Reception to Year 2) are assessed in areas that include phonics, reading, writing and numeracy. Applicants for the Junior Phase (Years 3 to 5) are assessed in reading, writing and mathematics. Those applying for admission into the Middle Phase (Years 6 to 8) and the Upper Department (Years 9 to 11) are assessed via Cognitive Ability Tests (CAT) across four key areas - Verbal Reasoning (VR), Non Verbal Reasoning (NVR), Quantitative Reasoning (QR) and Spatial Reasoning (SR). Depending on the school system they are transferring from, applicants to our Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13) may be assessed based on existing IGCSE or AS Level results and/or CAT assessments.
This depends upon the demand for specific year groups at specific times. The Admissions Team can advise on any waitlist in place.

Our school day starts at 7:30 each day.
授業終了時間
At the end of each school day students from Reception to Year 5 can be collected from 14.20, with Years 6 to 8 finishing at 14.30 and Years 9-13 at 14.40.

Students in Reception to Year 5 bring their own lunches from home. A healthy lunchbox delivery service is also offered. Students in Years 6 to 13 have the option of using the school canteen or can bring their own lunches.

The maximum number of students in all classroom would be 28. Primary classes typically have 25 to 27. Sets and subject options allow for lower class sizes at IGCSE (Years 10-11) and significantly smaller groups at AS and A Level (Years 12-13).

Yes, our skilled teaching assistants provide excellent learning support in to classes in the Primary phases of the school. We also benefit from specialist assistants/technicians in areas such as art, design technology and science.
授業でのICT活用
The entire BSK campus is covered in a fantastic new wireless network which employs some of the latest network technology to ensure that students can access learning materials from across the world. All classrooms are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards and digital projectors.
Students and teachers all access the school wireless network via laptop computers. From Year 6 BSK requires students to provide their own laptops which they use in lessons to access Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other web based resources.
In the Lower and Junior phases students use their own iPads making use of both applications (apps) and features of the iPad hardware, such as the camera, to enhance their educational experience.

BSK has a high degree of readiness when it comes to using technology to support online and hybrid learning scenarios. During the COVID-19 BSK was able to provide and sustain a full school experience, inclusive of real-time academic lessons, pastoral support sessions and extra-curricular activities, entirely online. Since the return to normalcy, our teachers receive refresher training to maintain this readiness, for instance in the event of weather-related or other unforeseen closures.
学校での宗教活動の有無と内容
The school delivers the local curriculum for Islamic Studies and Quranic Studies, as per the Kuwait Ministry of Education. For Muslim students who are Arab nationals these subjects are delivered in Arabic. For non-Arab Muslims instruction is in English.
無宗教や他の宗教を持つ生徒への対応
Non-Muslim students do not attend Islamic Studies of Quranic Studies lessons. Alternative subjects are provided for these sessions of the timetable, for instance design technology, German, Music and project skills. Non-Muslim students taking IGCSEs are able to select from a range of alternative subjects as per the available option blocks.

At BSK we offer an extensive range of extra-curricular activities that include clubs for: MUN, debating astronomy, art and design, STEAM, design technology, choir and instrumental music ensembles, drama productions, chess, fashion design, the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and a host of academic focused clubs and revision groups.

Physical Education (PE) is a core subject for all students from Reception to Year 11, with a curriculum based upon the National Curriculum of England. Students in Years 10-13 have the opportunity to opt for GCSE, AS and A Level Physical Education qualifications.

We believe that sport is for everyone. Our sports clubs – which include basketball, football, netball, volleyball, swimming, and athletics – offer fun, friendship, and opportunities to get active. Our inter-house tournaments and sports days also provide excellent opportunities for too, which encourage teamwork and sportsmanship. Our students also represent the school with pride at Kuwait Foreign Schools Activities Conference (KFSAC) and International Schools Activities Conference (ISACK) competitions, as well as the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) Games.

The BSK campus is comprised of a wide range of specialist teaching spaces that ensure our students are able to exceptionally broad learning experiences. These include: a large number of biology, chemistry and science laboratories: dedicated instrumental music and performance spaces; a dedicated art and design building inclusive of a dark room, animation studio, graphics suite and kiln); drama and dance spaces; design technology workshops; maker spaces for project based learning.

BSK's sports facilities are the envy of other schools in Kuwait. In addition to the four large sports courts, the Marble Arch is an arena capable of holding a variety of sports taking place simultaneously. Students also make use of BSK's swimming pool on site as well as astro-turf pitches adjacent to the campus.

Strong pastoral support for students is provided through our dedicated phase pastoral teams which consist of Assistant Head Teachers (Pastoral), Year Heads (Primary) and Year Leads (Secondary) and Class Tutors. These teams work closely with our whole-school Student Welfare and Safeguarding Coordinator who also facilitates access to external specialists and services.
