Wahring / Dobling

Wahring and Dobling are Viennas most prestigious and sought-after residential districts — the Viennese equivalent of Londons Kensington or Pariss 16th arrondissement. The 18th and 19th districts occupy the Wienerwald foothills north of the city center, encompassing the charming wine village of Grinzing, the Beethoven memorial Heiligenstadt, the Heuriger vineyards of Neustift am Walde, and the diplomatic corridor of the Dobling Hohenstrasse. The Beethovengang nature trail follows the path Beethoven walked when composing. Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg hills above Grinzing offer outstanding Vienna panorama hiking. The vineyard walks through Neustift am Walde and Grinzing are among the most pleasant in Austria. Nussdorf on the Danube provides waterfront access. Dobling and Wahring are served by the U4 (green line) at Heiligenstadt and the U6 at Wahringer Strasse-Volksoper. Trams run through the district to the Ringstrasse. The airport is 30–35 minutes by car or the D-Bahn express tram to Heiligenstadt and then the CAT.
