Kurze Beschreibung der erforderlichen Aufnahmeprüfung
Candidates for Kindergarten and Y01 of the English International Stream (EIS) will be assessed individually, but within a group of up to eight children. The assessment schedule begins in January for entry in August of the same year.
Applicants for Y02 to Y06 of the EIS will be invited to attend a test between February to May. The interview for candidates for Y02 onwards will consist of a written test for English and Mathematics and verbal English.
Potential candidates of the English Secondary Department for the following school year will be invited for an entrance test and/or interview in January and February of the same year.
We do not have a deadline for application. Applications are accepted from birth, so parents are advised to submit application as early as possible as the date of the application can have an impact on the applicant’s position on the waitlist for a future assessment.
Schüler können nach Beginn des Schuljahres aufgenommen werden
We do allow mid-year entry, provided that the applicant has been offered a shortlist place. A shortlist place refers to an applicant who has already passed all areas of our annual entrance assessments and where we do not have a place to offer immediately for the start of the academic year.

GSIS offers a diverse range of clubs and activities to enable them to acquire new skills, delve into unexplored areas of interest, and develop their talents. These offerings span across different fields, including art, drama, music, sports, STEM, coding, and debate. Aside from these, students in Secondary can participate in the Model United Nations to learn about how the UN operates, or partake in the Hong Kong Award for Young People, an award scheme designed to motivate a spirit of challenge and perseverance through outdoor activities.
Our students also have the freedom to spearhead and orchestrate their own contributions. By taking the initiative in student-led activities, they can share their skills to peers and gain valuable experience in leadership and organisation. We believe this enhances the breadth of our school’s offerings but also instils a sense of responsibility and community within our students. Through this approach, we aim to provide a well-rounded education that equips them with the skills and resilience to succeed in all aspects of life.
Our after-school programmes encompass both chargeable afternoon activities (AAs) and non-chargeable extra-curricular activities (ECAs) that are led by a combination of external service providers and GSIS staff members. They vary depending on the respective year groups and timetables of Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary students.

Language support for students not fluent in English and German
For children who are 6-8 years old, the Cultural and Language Integration Programme in Primary Years, also known as “CLIPPY”, presents an immersive German language curriculum. The programme enables children with no prior knowledge of German, to be supported by personalised language lessons. CLIPPY students are fully integrated in a multicultural environment and part of a nurturing community. It delivers an outstanding education that transforms lives, as well as minds, and develops critical thinking.
For older children ages 11-12 years old, the “Fast Track” programme is an accelerated German-learning experience designed for Secondary international students where German language courses are integrated into the interdisciplinary curriculum, alongside German speaking students. They are cultivated into a language-rich learning environment and become inquisitive, open minded and independent thinkers.
